Loft conversions

Your whole loft conversion, bedrooms and bathrooms included, carried out start to finish by a small family firm from Cardiff.

More living space, without moving house

A loft conversion turns unused space into an extra bedroom, home office, playroom or a room with its own en-suite.

It gives you more room to live in, can improve the look of your home and add to its value. We look after the whole job, from the free look around to the finished room.

What a full conversion includes

We build the whole room, not just the shell.

  • Bedrooms

Extra bedrooms, including a main bedroom with its own en-suite.

  • Bathrooms and en-suites

A bathroom, shower room or en-suite built into the new space.

  • Windows

Dormer windows or roof windows, depending on the style.

  • A room that suits you

A walk-in wardrobe, home office, study or playroom.

Loft conversion styles

The four styles

Each suits different homes and different goals. The illustrations show the same house each time: grey is the existing roof, blue is the new work.

Style 1 of 4

Hip to gable

On a detached or semi-detached house with a hipped roof, we extend the roofline at the side to create a gable end. That turns the narrow, sloping end of the loft into full-height space.

It can be shaped around what you need from the room.

Best for: Detached and semi-detached homes wanting extra bedrooms, a bedroom with an en-suite, a walk-in wardrobe, an office, a study or a playroom.

Style 2 of 4

Flat roof dormer

A flat roof dormer extends the roof outwards to create extra floor space in the loft. Because it adds height to the room, more of the floor becomes usable and more natural light comes in.

It is also quick to build.

Best for: Adding height and light where the existing roof limits headroom.

Style 3 of 4

Pitched roof dormer

A pitched roof dormer gives the same benefits as a flat roof dormer but often looks more in keeping with the house.

Depending on the property, you can add more than one.

Best for: A traditional look that suits the existing roof shape.

Style 4 of 4

Roof light

The simplest conversion to build. The existing loft space is not altered or extended; roof windows are fitted flush with the roofline and let in a lot of natural light.

It works well where there is already a good amount of headroom, or where planning constraints rule out changing the roof. With less structural work it is cost-effective and quicker to build.

Best for: Lofts that already have good headroom. Cost-effective, quicker and with less structural work.

Which style is right for my home?

It depends on your budget, the shape of the existing roof, the ridge height and how you want to use the room.

We'll look at all of that on the free visit and tell you straight what will work, before you get a quote.
